Joseph Ataman book God Among Men acquired by Full Set

Full Set has acquired God Among Men: Why the French Hate Emmanuel Macron by Joseph Ataman as the first title of its spring 2027 current affairs list.
Publisher Blathnaid Healy acquired world rights in all languages directly from the author.
In God Among Men, Ataman dissects how twice-elected Emmanuel Macron, who strode triumphant into the courtyard of the Louvre to Ode to Joy in 2017, has become so despised by the French.
Ataman is a London-born journalist living and working in France. A field producer for CNN, he’s spent years covering the twists and turns of French politics and interviewing people across the country. In 2022, Ataman ran CNN’s coverage of Macron’s re-election. He studied at the University of Cambridge and was a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard University during his master's degree in Middle Eastern studies.

Ataman said: “Dynamic, centrist, a statesman, Emmanuel Macron is respected and appreciated across much of the world. At home though, it’s a different story. His ambitious vision for France and his bullish approach to enacting it has repeatedly clashed with the cultural norms and democratic expectations of the French people. After 10 years in power, Macron leaves behind a legacy of bitterness and discontent that will mark France for years to come.”
Healy said: “Macron is one of the most instantly recognisable figures in international politics and yet his approval ratings at home have hit historic lows. Joseph’s reporting unravels how Macron lost the French people. It takes us from violent street protests to the broken promises made to women and from unpopular new speed limits to the rise of the far right. Where France goes next when it returns to the ballot box to elect a new president in 2027 impacts the world. Understanding Macron’s failures gives a window into a story that has implications far beyond this one country.”
God Among Men: Why the French Hate Emmanuel Macron will publish on 9 February, 2027 in paperback, ebook and audiobook and you can preorder the print copy direct from the publisher here.
