Zara Rahman book It’s About Time publishes in June

Zara Rahman Book 'a must-read for everyone'

Berlin-based author Zara Rahman's book It’s About Time, an essay published as part of a collaboration between independent publisher Full Set and award-winning global newsroom Fuller, will release on June 15.  

It's About Time: Motherhood’s Most Precious and Contested Resource is a concise and timely work that explores if there are other ways to organise our societies so that the bind of time stops getting ever tighter for mothers. 

The essay has been described by Afua Hirsch as “a must-read for everyone who cares about understanding how we have got this so wrong, and how we can imagine a better future,” while Angela Saini called it “a short but mighty meditation on the need to lift the weight of expectation from mothers and spread childcare and housework more evenly across society as a whole.” 

Full Set is publishing a special edition print run of 100 numbered copies of the essay. It will also be available as an ebook, audiobook and print-on-demand paperback from June 15.

Rahman is an author, researcher and non-profit executive whose debut book, Machine Readable Me: The Hidden Ways Tech Shapes Our Identities, was published by award-winning Scottish independent publisher 404 Ink in 2023. Machine Readable Me builds on over a decade of research on how data about who we are is used to shape the paths available to us in life.    

It’s About Time is the first of three works that Fuller and Full Set are collaborating to produce. The essay started life as a story published as part of Fuller’s Motherhood edition in April and has been expanded for this new publication.
