About the author

Conor Brady is a writer and journalist. He was editor of The Irish Times (1986-2002). 

Since then, he's held several roles in the public sector. Brady chaired the committee that makes recommendations to ministers and the government about appointments to senior roles in the civil service. Previously, he was commissioner of the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC). 

He was chairperson of the World Editors Forum and an advisory board member of the European Journalism Centre. In 2024, Brady was awarded an honorary D.Litt. by the National University of Ireland. He is the author of the Joe Swallow crime novel series and several works of non-fiction.
